On February 28th through March 3rd Costa Rica welcomes the 9th evolution of Envision Music Festival back to the jungle-rich pacific coast in Uvita. The festival is known for its transformational experiences through pillars of eco-awareness, national inclusion, and world-class music. It is a movement of body, spirit, sound and food unfolded into one conscious playground, with the environment held in the heart center! Spread across three of the incredibly alive stages, named Luna, Sol and Lapa, you’ll find what your ears have been craving and body didn’t know it needed! The sounds will be fresh, the music experience delightfully unexpected, and the energy of diversity addictive, as we witness this array of talent!
It’s our pleasure to introduce to you the Latin American Showcase of talent coming here in February! These musical phenomenons are here expressing culture and merging musical traditions with all corners of the world! This specially curated BeatMaps exclusive playlist will delight your senses as you prepare to join us!
Welcoming Nicola Cruz, who creates an electronic melody from his folklore roots to the rhythmic mountain source in the Andes of Ecuador. He was raised in music, learning about and infusing indigenous traditions with western theories. Thus came a musical movement, blending his rhythmic and ancestral roots ritualistically with future sounds of percussion and exploration. The sound can be meditative and rejuvenating and when experienced live can turn into a complete ceremony of movement and vibrational pull. Cruz is creating a new the bar for Latin American artists, spreading the magic of his music internationally and inviting everyone to join the journey!
The furious percussionaries, La Chiva Gantiva of Columbia, come with their new album and an eclectic group of sound engineers from Columbian, Vietnamese, Belgian and Chilean origins. They bring to the stage with explosive energy, traditional Afro-Colombian groove merged with a worldly powerful blend of rock, rap, soul and Latino funk. With wild spirit and limitless growth in diversity and passion for sharing with the world, these creators are seemingly unstoppable. Llegar a bailar con estas dinámicas rockstars!
The environmental activist, Youth Change-maker award winner, author and Earth Guardians creator, 18 year old Xiuhtezcatl, arrives with more than music to share. Coming from Boulder, Colorado harnessing the opportunities of the youth, he strives for united action, reminding us to return to our role of caring for the earth. The strength in his words are loud with his clear voice consciously rooted in the indigenous Aztec traditions of his father. With complete congruency, he creatively spreads an optimistic message through new wave, wide-awake rap activist music calling out to youth in action worldwide. Xiuhtezcatl uses his art as a beacon, calling to recognize that the opportunities and resources are here, we just have to seize our power for change!
Newly masked Klik and Frik transcend the stage as Frikstailers with even more improvisational electronic layers. It’s disco tech, mystical dance energy of the past, compiled with the present flow of new energetic compositions and many internationally diverse artists. Their Argentinian ancestry serenades and revitalizes energy rooted in lessons from sound. The talent here surpasses what we will experience vocally and rhythmically live on stage. We can also learn from these teachers who have always and continue to research virtual creation environments. Their goal? To test new instruments musically in a virtual progressive world enabling emulation of acoustic sound. Are we there yet?!
Santos y Zurdo
With international reach as a main intention for these three, they are standing out in the community of progressive culture here in their homelands of Costa Rica. The vibration is an electronic based project combined with multiple worldwide rhythms. They have infused sitar sounds from India with funk, drum and bass, house and hip-hop to name a few! The most recent EP titled ‘The Mess I Made’ jumps into the playful pop genre inviting a new market, proving that the more they experiment with different sounds, the longer and further they will go.
Santos y Zurdo are among the rare 2 artist/groups, alongside Random Rab, that have been at Envision since the beginning. The festival’s own growth and expansion is a mirror to the levels of evolution we’re witnessing with this powerful trio, especially in their live sets.
Join us here in jungle paradise! Come with open energy ready to experience more than just a show, with sound everlasting in your bones raising your vibration every minute!
PURA VIDA & See you at Envision!
