After 20 years of magic, Shambhala has attracted a family that keeps coming back for more. The year, Shambhala returns to Salmo River Ranch from August 10th-13th.The festival’s name echoes through the campgrounds of events around the world as it’s dedicated attendees claim it to be their favorite festival and recommend that any and all attend next year. With one guiding principle, “It’s all about the people on the dancefloor.”, Shambhala seems to be less of a yearly event and more of a infinite vibe. It is the kind of experience that you take with you and infuse into your everyday life, not intentionally, but because your energy has now experienced this elevated space.
The festival is made up of many symbiotic and important aspects to create a dynamic experience. These include but are not limited to- music, art, workshops, and yoga. The music lineup is full of great names that will satisfy many different tastes. Notable names that will be bumping on the six unique stages at the event include Claude Vonstroke, Boogie T, Justin Martin, Mark Farina, Adventure Club, The FunkHunters, MALAA, Space Jesus, and many more. When you are in the mood for something more interactive, look for the BASScamp, Shambhala’s landmark art experience where you can experience local and imported art from around the world. Check out The Grove’s workshop series at the Cedar Lounge to learn something new and expand your awareness. Lastly, catch a restorative yoga class daily at the Yoga Garden, Thursday through Sunday plus special classes at stages. Most of the workshop and yoga lineups are not out yet- so keep an eye on the website for updates!
In 1998, 500 people gathered and celebrated the first official gathering that would later grow into Shambhala. Over time, the word spread to family and friends attracting an enthusiastic crowd and a space for a truly one of a kind experience to blossom. In a world where so much is meant to divide us, it truly takes something out of the ordinary to pull thousands of people together year after year. Shambhala in particular is unique in many ways, but one in particular is that it does not accept corporate sponsorship and sources all of its food from local farms. Each stage is curated independently by it’s personal stage director who designs all details from vibe to lineup. Every last detail seems to be specific to Shambhala and curated with intention and heart. The only way to truly understand how special Shambhala is, is to make it out there for this year’s magical event!
