The second installment of the newest bass party in New York City just went down, and it’s called ‘After Dub’. This weekend, the Panther Room at Output in Brooklyn was blessed with Conrank with support by Of The Trees, Digital Ethos, Keota and Honeycomb as well as a guest MC and DJ. This was one of the best shows of 2017 so far. It was going have to be fantastic given that the first After Dub show at Slake which was with Ganja White Night. Happy to report Austin Trout, Good Looks Collective, and the AfterDub team did not disappoint!
The intimacy of the Panther Room was well noted along and the sounds blasting from the best speakers known to man. Yes, I’m talking about the Funktion One’s that left me breathless on the dance floor. I’ve heard similar music at outdoor music festivals and on huge stages in New York, but never quite like this. The de-constructed rhythmic bass music had my entire body vibrating. It was more than heady, it was transcendental. Starting with a gentle mellow wave then building to strong, strange, throbbing bass beats. I felt my mind unraveling with each deep wobble. I left everything I had on the dance floor on Friday night. Totally hypnotized by the Nintendo sounding blasts, I found myself in outer space with room’s lights and lasers complimenting every delectable bass drop. The night ended as it should, with rowdy and raucous Dubstep and a sprinkle of glorious Riddim. For anyone with a 9-5 job looking to blow off steam, this is the absolute best night around. 10/10 guaranteed to lose your mind.
