SHAMBHALA MUSIC FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES EXCISION AS 2019 HEADLINER
Shambhalas’ favorite bass legend, Excision, returns in 2019
March 25, 2019. Nelson, BC.
Iconic dubstep DJ/producer and Shambhala Music Festival fan favourite, Excision(Jeff Abel), has been announced to return for the festival’s 22nd anniversary this August. Having last played at the festival in 2017, Shambhala fans are beyond thrilled to welcome Excision back to The Village Stage by throwing their X’s up. With a history that runs deep with the festival, Excision also looks forward to returning to play for his 11th time at the festival, “Shambhala is where it all started for me, stoked to be back!” – Excision. Excision joins GRiZ, ZHU, Chase & Status and TroyBoi as the headlining artists who have been announced on the 2019 roster so far, with the Official 2019 Lineup to be announced in the coming days.
Known for his dark, heavy-hitting sounds and huge visual productions, his shows can only be explained as a virtual apocalypse, enveloping attendees in earth-shattering walls of headbanging bass. Hailing from Kelowna, British Columbia, Abel is no stranger to the festival. After first attending Shambhala Music Festival in 2005, Abel became inspired to dive deeper into music production, returning three years later to perform at the festival in 2008. Abel quickly became a crowd favourite after returning to play annually as a Village Stage resident. “Jeremy aka Subvert, who runs the Village stage, liked my tunes and gave me a shot with a decent evening set time on Sunday. The crowd started out thin but filled up quickly and I was extremely stoked to finally play at Shambhala.” His Shambhala mixes on Soundcloud, which can only be described as insanity at its finest, became an annual tradition for festival-goers and have gained vast popularity with some mixes amassing millions of plays.
Shambhala Music Festival will be returning to the pristine Salmo River Ranch August 9-12, 2019, making it the longest-running electronic music festival in Canada. The festival began in 1998 as a grassroots gathering of 500 people on founder Jimmy Bundschuh’s family farm in an evergreen forest, nestled deep in the breathtaking mountains of interior British Columbia. The festival is a family-run event that operates completely free of corporate sponsorship and offers six unique stage environments. General Admission Tickets for 2019 are on sale now here.
