After a winter of heavy rains, the Emerald Triangle is in full bloom and the rugged yet regal Eel River is at full flow. It seems as if the stars have aligned environmentally and musically for this summer’s fifth installment of Northern Nights Music Festival—which has released their final lineup—adding Jai Wolf, Dirtwire, Moon Boots, Vijay & Sofia, and Falcons to the previously debuted ranks of the entire Living Legends crew (first festival in 15 years this far North), Cherub, Big Wild, Justin Jay, NoMBe, G Jones and many more.
JAI WOLF — this mid tempo indie-electronic producer/dj alias of Sajeeb Saha, hailing somewhere between Bangladesh and New York, has been actively involved with music since the age of five, when he took up the violin as a New York all-state performer. Jai Wolf’s melodic, dreamlike sound has attracted the love of many, and he’s continuously released incredible tracks that have been recognized by some of the biggest names in dance music including Skrillex and Odesza. The rising star is ready to bring the Indian Summer to the Emerald Triangle at Northern Nights 2017.
DIRTWIRE — Dirtwire sits on the back porch of Americana’s future, conjuring up a whirlwind of sound using traditional instrumentation, world percussion, soundscapes, and electronic beats. Comprised of David Satori (Beats Antique), Evan Fraser (The Dogon Lights; Bolo), and Mark Reveley (Jed and Lucia), each performance brings us all to a mysterious crossroads of beats, blues, African, Asian, and South American sounds. The result is a rebirth of Americana and a post-millennial psychedelic journey to down home goodness along the South Fork of the Eel River.
VIJAY & SOFIA — A couple in real life and behind the decks, Vijay and Sofia bring their euro-tropical-house dancefloor anthems for their DEBUT U.S. Festival Performance. The duo have been tapped for remixes by some of the industry’s biggest names including Daft Punk, Pharrell, Moby, Kiesza, Buena Vista Social Club, Duke Dumont, and Nicolas Jaar and now boast over 1 million plays a month for their own unique, bouncy productions that are ready to take on the NN17 River Stage.
MOON BOOTS — Moon Boots entered the world in the mid-1980s via Cape Canaveral. After years of service as the preferred footwear of celebrity astronauts (notably Tom Hanks), Moon Boots
came to life during a classified experiment aboard the International Space Station. Moon Boots will be taking everyone on an intergalactic journey through the Emerald Triangle.
FALCONS — Los Angeles producer/dj FALCONS has arrived at the forefront of a new generation blurring the lines between hip-hop, R&B, and EDM. The young producer has crafted both radio-ready songs & underground club anthems in one breath and made a major impact across the globe, touring his sound across North America, Asia, Europe and Australia and now adding some punch to the infamous Northern Nights body-thumping soundscapes.
NN17 will also mark the return of the Tree Lounge, which features the Emerald Triangle’s premiere medical cannabis cultivators and manufacturers as well as hosts top-tier dispensary buyers and distributors from all around the Golden State. NN17’s new and improved Tree Lounge and Silent Disco locations will put vendors front and center on the main festival thoroughfare. A limited number of booth spaces are still available at northernnights.org/getinvolved
Grove Yoga and Sustainability — Rise with the sun for morning Grove Yoga presented by Bloom Farms then rinse off in our Hot Showers. Praise for Northern Nights Music Festival:
High Times — “The three-day camping experience is surrounded by redwood giants in Humboldt County, next to the Eel River… The MMJ-compliant 215 Tree Lounge offers the best cannabis products from Northern California.”
Huffington Post — “…Northern Nights’ exquisite landscape is an enlightening experience on its own. The festival itself is nestled alongside the pristine Eel River, adding the cleansing properties of cool, river water to this forest party. It’s easy to see how this can be an ideal place for yoga, beneath a natural cathedral of mighty redwood trees. With ample shade and fresh air, Northern Nights is the ultimate place for the mountain-loving yogi to practice.”
