We are just about one week away from returning to Lake San Antonio for Do LaB’s flagship festival, Lightning in a Bottle. Newcomers and veterans to the West Coast festival scene alike will stimulate their body and mind in the expansive and immersive environment that Do LaB builds. What was once a barren, dusty wasteland of dry lakebed has this year turned into… a freaking lake. There is a LAKE at Lightning in a Bottle this year. And all of the stages are next to it. And you can swim in it. And there’s art installations floating on the lake. And you can swim up to them and climb aboard. And they’re on a lake. Because there’s a freaking lake at Lightning in a Bottle this year. If you’ve been to this venue in the past few years, then you know that this is a drastic change of pace. Needless to say, this has all the makings for being the greatest LIB yet by far.
With just 9 days to go until we return to the wonderland that is Lightning in a Bottle, Do LaB has released one last mega-batch of information to get you ready for the festival, including maps, set times, and an exciting list of jaw-dropping new structures. See the links to all three below. While the music, as always, will be top-notch (our top 5 sets: Bassnectar, Richie Hawtin, Christian Smith, ill.Gates b2b Stephan Jacobs, Plantrae), perhaps the most enticing thing about Lightning in a Bottle is the grandiose structures, art installations, and interactive environments that densely populate the peninsulas of Lake San Antonio. Today, Do LaB announced 10 new structures that will enhance the waterfront LIB skyline. Among the new structures is the Beacon, which made its debut at Coachella this year, as well as a totally redesigned Woogie, and Lilikoi, which will take the place of the old Pagoda Bar. My favorite thing about LIB is just walking around at night and marveling at all the incredible structures, so it goes without saying that I’m particularly excited to do that this year.
Look, I’ve been going to Lightning in a Bottle for a few years now, and I just CANNOT wait to see what this place looks like this year. It’s going to be greener. It’s going to be wetter. And it’s going to be better. If you can find the time to go to Lightning in a Bottle next week, then GO TO LIGHTNING IN A BOTTLE NEXT WEEK!
