In our modern world, we are constantly shuffled from screen to screen throughout the day starting with the phone upon waking then the TV before heading out to the work computer, then the phone again on the commute home. When we get home we flip on the TV, check some emails on the computer and insta on the phone until our head hits the pillow after the last swipe for the alarm and finally we have disconnected, only in our dreams.
The inaugural Lights Out event this Friday at the Knitting Factory gives you a chance to experience the power of BEING HERE NOW, to be present mentally in the space that you are in physically. Looking around your surroundings instead of your phone is not done often in the technology driven society that we live in today. This is your chance to come out and talk to people. Perhaps you will meet a new friend or new love and make a real connection this Friday. And you will do it under minimal stimulation.
First, your phone will be fashioned with a case by Yonder so that it will be unusable. Then you will notice that there are no lasers, nor much light at this party. There will be light for the bar and one single bulb behind the DJ booth. The experience will be somewhat like a deprivation tank as you will be void of stimulation except for sound. And sound is why you’re coming to Lights Out after all isn’t it? You are coming to hear the sweet and glorious sounds of EPROM with support by Pleasure X tsimba on the booming Massada Rock sound system. EPROM is known as one of the originals in the Bass scene. He takes deconstruction to a level with deep, dark, wobbles that hit low inside your body. It’s slowed down and dramatic with 808 thumps and waves of bass that bring you up, titillating you to the tips of your fingers and then pausing in utter silence….. until the glorious drop pulls you back down in complete satisfaction. Almost spiritual in tempo with musical mixtures and calculations that combine noises you probably have never heard before, EPROM sure has a way with music. We promise that this show hosted by Good Looks Collective is going to be a very special time.
