YES.
Symbiosis Gathering, a multifaceted lakeside music and arts experience, and perhaps the best festival we saw in 2015, has announced its return to California’s Woodward Reservoir September 22-25 for its 2016 event ‘Family Tree’. Following its first ever sell out and most talked about showing in 2015, Symbiosis returns for its first consecutive year, with five days of world renowned music, performance, art installations, immersive classes and much more.
Symbiosis Gathering offers 6 individually crafted music stages nestled into a naturally occurring 5-pointed peninsula surrounded on all edges by the pristine swimmable water of Woodward Reservoir. In 2015 attendees witnessed Justin Martin’s sun soaked lakeside set at the Swimbiois Stage, to a chilling nighttime main-stage performance by Nicolas Jaar, and an unannounced early morning ambient set by Tipper, Symbiosis’ curation revolves around a unique sense of artistry, timing and setting.
Outside of its musical programming Symbiosis offers hundreds of talks and workshops that touch on permaculture action, yoga and arts. Centered around its Hub space on-site, immersive programming ranged from cacao tasting to sacred leadership, hosted by cultural luminaries and academics that include Saul Williams, Amy Goodman and Caroline Casey.
The Symbiosis experience is also defined by cutting edge art programming including countless art installations and and multiple collectives of live painters plus a first of its kind art boat program welcoming over 8 interactive floating crafts in 2015. Attendees can literally float between stages and discover seminal moments like the Delorean art boat spiralling towards the shore at Sunset or impromptu aquatic dance parties. It is this fully immersive programming that offers Symbiosis attendees a truly potent experience.
Symbiosis Gathering: Family Tree will not only be a time for celebrating the reunion of families and memories from past years, but will serve as a precursor for what may be the burgeoning brand’s most important event to date: Symbiosis Gathering Oregon Eclipse 2017. On August 21st, 2017, a total solar eclipse will be visible over a small strip of land in the United States. Having secured a beautiful site situated in the direct path of the eclipse, Symbiosis will partner with revered international festival organizers to co-create an event unlike any in the world.
